2008: V6 HiLux Heroes increase Toyota's rural commitment

Toyota Australia's new V6 HiLux Heroes stunt driving team not only entertains rural communities throughout Australia, but further strengthens the company's strong support of regional Australia.

That the V6 HiLux Heroes are going to regional shows as well as those in the capital cities is proof of a dedication to bringing the excitement of stunt driving to rural areas.

These events are often forgotten as they are normally much smaller than capital city shows, and obviously a lot harder to access, but the team is dedicated to performing at these shows as well as the main attractions in the big smoke.

From 2008, Toyota will sponsor the National Rugby League's under-20 competition, nurturing young talent from all areas of New South Wales and Queensland.

This year also marks the Australian Rugby League's centenary and Toyota will be sponsoring the Centenary Cup, a series of knockout competitions to be held in NSW and Queensland for rural and regional clubs.

As part of Toyota's ongoing sponsorship with the Australian Football League, the company last year launched the Toyota 'Good for Country Footy, Great for Country Kids' program.

The South Australian-based program gives kids living in rural areas the chance to earn their clubs valuable sponsorship funds donated by regional Toyota dealers.

Toyota has an ongoing relationship with the world heritage-listed Fraser Island, supporting both the island's annual clean-up weekend and fishing expo.

The company has committed over $80,000 to the sewage treatment plant on the island, and during the annual fishing expo it promotes Island-friendly camping initiatives to help preserve the area.

Toyota is also a long-term sponsor of country music in Australia, supporting both the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the National Country Music Muster.

At the Tamworth festival Toyota provides the popular Toyota Country Theatre as well as supporting the Toyota Star Maker talent search.

The Country Theatre hosts music acts during the festival and provides free breakfast and lunch as well as vehicle demonstrations.

The Star Maker talent search supports up-and-coming artists and has uncovered Australian country music talents including Australian of the Year Lee Kernaghan, Keith Urban and Beccy Cole.

During the 2007 edition of the festival, Toyota matched the amount of money raised by not-for-profit organisation Aussie Helpers that assisted drought-affected farmers.

The Toyota National Country Music Muster has been held near Gympie in Queensland for 26 years and is a celebration of country music and Australia's rural lifestyle.

The muster attracts thousands of people. The majority camp at the venue and many arrive in their Toyota utes and four-wheel drives.

All of Toyota Australia's rural programs are supported by the company's extensive regional dealer network, each of which is actively involved in its local community.
